UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany
My bucket list has a special item that says I need to visit one UNESCO World Heritage Site each from all of the 167 participating countries.
For Germany, it is the Museum Island which houses 5 museums.
The universal value of the Museum Island is that it is a unique collection of museum buildings illustrating the evolution of museum design. Also, the Museum Island is the most outstanding example of the social phenomenon of the Age of Enlightenment placing a material form in a symbolic central urban setting.
I had the chance to visit the 5 museums in just one day. The ticket is EUR 18 per adult. They are open Tuesdays to Sundays but times differ per day.
Tue/Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun 10am - 6pm ,
Thursday 10am - 8pm;
Museums are closed on Mondays
Here they are:
Museum 1 of 5: Pergamonmuseum (Pergamon Museum)
Museum 2 of 5: Bode-Museum
Museum 3 of 5: Neues Museum (New Museum)
Museum 4 of 5: Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery)
Museum 5 of 5: Altes Museum (Old Museum)
